In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Artistic Director, the board of directors of Ballet Edmonton Society is pleased to request applications for the position of Managing Director.
Ballet Edmonton is entering its 11th season as Edmonton’s only resident ballet company, and is poised for significant growth. A contemporary ballet ensemble of ten dancers, under the leadership of Artistic Director Wen Wei Wang, Ballet Edmonton creates and commissions original work each season from a variety of national and international choreographic voices for main stage performance series and touring opportunities.
Ballet Edmonton is committed to advancing the work of female and diverse creators to ensure its artistic product reflects the world in which we live. Ballet Edmonton contributes to the evolution of ballet in Canada by expressing the unique narratives of the artists whose vision we help bring to life.
The board of directors is seeking an experienced, engaging leader with demonstrated skills in financial and human resource management, fund development, fundraising, and experience in the non-profit sector.
The successful person is action-oriented with a collaborative spirit and a keen sense of what it takes to manage multiple priorities. A quick thinker with a proven ability to manage long range and short-term strategic goals, this position is best suited to someone who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and has no qualms or shyness around individual donor and sponsor development in the private and corporate sectors.
Applicants should have a post-secondary degree in business or arts administration, or have a suitable combination of education and experience.
Located in Edmonton, Alberta, this position is full time with some flexibility required for evening and weekend obligations, particularly for performance days.
