Encounters

What happens when life transforms into art?

We invite you to come and explore our first production of the season beginning with two new pieces created for Citie Ballet.

“I am thrilled to be returning to Citie Ballet for their 2016-2017 Season Opener and am looking forward to exploring some very exciting concepts with Jorden and the company!” says Alysa Pires.

Jorden Morris notes: “Alysa Pires is a really vibrant female choreographer and we are delighted she is joining us.”

Jacinto

Jacinto by artistic director Jorden Morris is a mesmerizing work of classical ballet and contemporary movements set to a symphonic score by music icon, Peter Gabriel. Morris weaves percussive patterns with lyrical bridges to create this compelling and emotional ballet.

Choreographed by Jorden Morris

Herd

The second half of the evening, we are proud to feature the debut of Herd by celebrated Toronto choreographer, Alysa Pires. Herd examines the social dynamics that influence behaviours in groups, the pressures of conformity and the pull of conscience.

Choreographer: Alysa Pires
