Ignite

Our final production of the season honours the return of spring – we celebrate that spirit with stories that reflect emergence and change. Citie Ballet artistic director Jorden Morris presents a new work accompanied by two new pieces by company dancers Lydia Redpath and Matthew Klippenstein.

Jux

Emerging choreographer Lydia Redpath pulls her inspiration for Jux from the unique movement qualities and strengths of each of the three dancers she has chosen for this work. Supported by a soulful soundtrack, Jux is a quirky, contemporary piece that explores the interplay of relationships between dancers, both on and off the stage, giving the audience a more personal view of their world.

Untamed

This exciting debut offering by Citie Ballet dancer Matthew Klippenstein takes audiences on an explosive journey of control, revenge and redemption. The new work, set to music ranging from sensual Spanish rhythms to boisterous rock, weaves an intriguing narrative of the interplay between control and freedom that is at once seductive, sinister and celebratory.

Back to Bach

Back to Bach is a playful exploration of the joy and rejuvenation of spring. Jorden Morris’ beautiful journey of renewal is a fusion of classical movement with a delightful contemporary edge. His work showcases the artistic and technical strengths of Citie Ballet’s dancers in an uplifting homage to the season of new beginnings. In this, his farewell piece for Citie Ballet, Morris will do what he does best and create visually stunning art that moves.
