Rehearsal Director
Born in Fukushima, Japan, Yoko started her ballet training at Hitomi Takeuchi Ballet School. Upon graduating high school, she moved to Vancouver to join Pacific DanceArts before starting her professional career as a dancer. Yoko joined the Atlanta Ballet Company under the direction of John McFall, where she performed in ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, Fire Bird, Dracula and Moulin Rouge, to name a few. She has also made guest appearances in productions across Canada, USA and Japan and most recently she led the stage as Myrtha in Joshua Beamish/MOVETHECOMPANY’s production of @giselle in NYC. Yoko joined Ballet Edmonton in 2019 and has had the pleasure of working with world-renowned choreographers. In 2022 she was entrusted with new responsibilities as Ballet Edmonton’s rehearsal director where she aims to lead, support and inspire the company’s artists. As a teacher in Ballet Edmonton’s outreach program, Yoko has had the pleasure to share her love for dance with youth in Edmonton.
