Avery Lau

Avery Lau grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she trained at South Tulsa Dance Company under the direction of Troy Herring and Cory Barnette. She graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2026 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and worked with BalletCollective during the summer of 2026.

Her training includes the NDT Summer Intensive, Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Ensemble, Ballet BC’s 44, Gallim Winter Intensive and Alonzo King LINES Ballet, as well as study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. In 2023, Avery was recognized as a YoungArts Winner in Modern/Contemporary Dance.

Throughout her training and performance career, Avery has had the opportunity to learn and perform works by renowned choreographers including Crystal Pite, Jiří Kylián, Merce Cunningham, Wayne McGregor, Medhi Walerski, Andrea Miller, Johan Inger, Ethan Colangelo, Baye & Asa, among others.

Alongside her performance work, Avery has presented choreography through New York University and performed at festivals and venues both in New York and internationally. She is grateful and excited to be joining Ballet Edmonton for the 2026/2027 season.
