Meet your Citie Ballet company! We asked a Citie Ballet dancer to share a selfie and some tidbits about her life in the company.
Introducing one of our newest dancers, Isabella Pisapia:
What is your favourite restaurant in Edmonton?
I haven’t tried a lot of local restaurants since moving to Edmonton, but from the few that I have, I really enjoyed Sugarbowl and Remedy Café! I look forward to trying some more, too!
Do you have a pre-performance ritual?
I brush my teeth! It’s always good to have fresh breath on stage :). I also always do some planking exercises right before I go onstage to activate my core to help me stay grounded.
Who inspires you to dance?
So many people inspire me to dance! My favourite dancer would probably have to be Marianela Nunez (she’s a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet). I also have been really inspired by Isabella Boylston from American Ballet Theatre lately and even entire companies like Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. They have really innovative repertoire and the dancers are amazing movers and beautiful artists!
What/who inspired you to audition for Citie Ballet?
I like how Citie Ballet focuses on presenting a lot of new creations every season and I thought that it would be fun to be a part of that process, as I’d get to explore many different choreographic styles.
