Hiring CEO

June 3, 2025

The Position

Ballet Edmonton is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead this dynamic company through an important growth transformation to our strong future.

This individual will be responsible for all aspects of delivering the artistic vision of the Company within a fiscally responsible approach. You will build a new core business structure with deep relationships with community throughout Edmonton, providing the financial stability to grow and thrive in a world of evolving digital frontiers and real-world engagement. You will identify and cultivate new revenue sources including corporate donations, major gifts, and innovative revenue streams to achieve the annual and long-term strategic plan. You will lead the creative and operations team in a singular drive for continued artistic excellence.

Ballet Edmonton’s new CEO will demonstrate strong, proven financial management and revenue development experience, including the executive leadership of marketing, audience engagement, new audience development, donor engagement, stewardship, and diversification, EDI initiatives, education and community outreach programs, fiscal management, production, contract/union negotiations, human resource management, organizational culture and employee engagement, and information technology services.

In addition to superb people and human resource management skills, you work effectively with a Board. You build trusted relationships with key supporters – audiences, governments, sponsors, donors, granting councils, foundations, and partners and peers in the arts community. You have an exceptional ability to secure substantial donations and major gifts by inspiring generosity, aligning donor passions seamlessly with our vision and plan. Strategic, diplomatic, disciplined, financially astute, innovative, and a talented public speaker and negotiator, you also are a trusted coach, mentor, and inspiring team leader. This is an opportunity to engage your general management skills, (from either the for-profit or non-profit world) your knowledge of today’s performing arts market – its challenges and its untapped potential – and realize a strategic plan that enables Ballet Edmonton to meet its true potential of one of Canada’s most exciting dance companies.

Requirements

Relevant executive leadership experience in the performing arts, or a combination of private sector executive leadership experience and extensive contributions to the performing arts as a volunteer, along with a demonstrated track record of growing revenue from donors, sponsors, and other sources.

About Ballet Edmonton

Ballet Edmonton is a contemporary dance ensemble under the artistic direction of Canadian choreographer Kirsten Wicklund. We commission new work from a range of Canadian and international choreographic voices each season to present to the community in Edmonton and across Canada, and each seasonal production is a mixed program format.

We exist to inspire all Albertans through the evolution of ballet told through a contemporary lens and offer accessible ticket pricing so the whole community can join us. Our mainstage season takes place at the beautiful Triffo Theatre in downtown Edmonton inside Allard Hall at MacEwan University
