We are thrilled to unveil our 25/26 Season to you.
A season defined by risk, resonance and the incomparable power of the collective. All performances are at the Triffo Theatre in Allard Hall at MacEwan University.
Our Emerging Choreographic Platform returns with a new creation from up‑and‑coming Ballet Edmonton artist Nevan Boyden, mentored by the brilliant Fernando Hernando Magadan. Sharing the bill is audience favourite Night Breath by rising Canadian powerhouse Ethan Colangelo — Choreographic Associate with The National Ballet of Canada — whose reputation is soaring worldwide. And we’re positively thrilled to welcome Béatrice Larrivée, crafting on Ballet Edmonton for the very first time!
Prepare for an exhilarating polarity as two striking international voices converge on one stage. French choreographer Cyril Baldy (Nederlands Dans Theater, The Forsythe Company) pushes classical language forward, wielding the pointe shoe as a sculptural tool to interrogate tradition. In contrast, Belgian maker Marie Gyselbrecht — a long‑standing member of Peeping Tom — delivers her North American debut in a pulse‑quickening vein of physical theatre. Expect the boundaries of dance to stretch, shatter, and bewilder.
Artistic Director Kirsten Wicklund and Artistic Associate Peter Smida invite you into a dreamscape where movement meets song. Iconic choral works by David Lang, performed live, intertwine with the full Ballet Edmonton ensemble, guiding us on a lush descent into the body, the voice, and the endless well of imagination.
