Highlight Highlands

One couple’s affinity with the Highlands neighbourhood inspired them to build something custom made as they could age-in-place in their favourite Edmonton area. Working with the builder, they integrated treasures from their travels into every room, with each piece showcased by the abundant natural light from the oversized windows and glass staircase.

Edify Edmonton has a great article about the story of this house on this year’s Ballet Edmonton Home Tour, along with stunning pictures.

Westblock Wonder

The floor-to-ceiling windows and private patios of this 15th floor West Block condo provide city vistas like no other. There were some adjustments for the homeowner to transition from a three-storey home full of memories to an open-concept condo, which was made easier with the careful skills of a local interior designer. The designer incorporated personal mementos throughout and transformed standard finishes into something that felt more like “home” to this new condo dweller.

Arriving at this final design was a journey both of independence and assistance, as told in September’s issue of Edify Edmonton. Read this incredible story and see pictures of this wonderful high-rise suite.

Inside, the home is surrounded by personal artwork of the homeowner, while the expanded backyard that she shares with her cousin next door boasts a clever patio shelter with wood-burning pizza oven for everyone to enjoy.
